Years ago, I complimented a very wise friend of mine on her new amber bracelet. She told me that she was having coffee at a public market and that a nun asked if she could share her table. (My friend used to teach nuns in a nunnery.) When the nun sat down she told my friend that she had fully mastered all her vows and how spiritual she was now. My friend decided to test the nun, noticed the nun’s amber bracelet, and said, “What a lovely bracelet, may I have it?
During the Oprah and Eckhart Tolle pod cast, the discussion turned to Oprah ranting about loaning money and never getting it back, and Eckhart said, “You need to learn to say “NO” without any emotion”. He did not say, “You need to learn to say “YES” without any emotion.
This is what Eckhart should have done on national television to Oprah:
“Well Oprah, that is a beautiful bracelet, may i have it?”
It would have been so funny, caused a snowball of giving worldwide, instead it was as if Oprah said, “no, no, it is my favorite bracelet”.
My wise friend would say, you are a ‘no one and a nothing, and own nothing and never will own anything’.
